Rumours are abuzz that director Karan Johar wants Sanjay Dutt to play the antagonist in his ambitious project Shuddhi. Karan reportedly even approached the incarcerated actor for the role opposite Salman Khan.
According to a leading tabloid, Dutt reportedly met Karan Malhotra during his last furlough, and it is said he even got a story narration from him. Karan who directed Sanjay Kancha Cheena in Agneepath will helm Shuddhi.
Dutt is currently serving a 42-month sentence (since May 2013) at Pune’s Yerwada jail for illegal possession of weapons during the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
Shuddhi, that will be directed by Karan Malhotra, is slated to hit theatres in December 2015. Karan Malhotra directed the 2012 remake of Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Agneepath (1990).
The film has been in trouble over casting since its inception. After Hrithik Roshan to Ranveer Singh rejected the ambitious project, Salman Khan gave his nod. Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Podukone were approached for the female lead but the makers are still in search for the female lead.
